The Lara Fun Run / Walk is a family focussed event where everyone can participate. The event starts and finishes at the beautifully renovated Pirra Mansion gardens. The course takes participants through Serendip Sanctuary amongst a spectacular bush setting and plenty of wildlife. The Lara Fun Run aims to provide a great value, healthy, enjoyable experience for everyone, whilst at the same time helping local community groups raise much needed funds.

RANDOM PRIZES

There will be over $5000 worth of random prize giveaways at and before the Lara Fun Run this year. Major prize draws will be held in the weeks leading up to the event for all those who have entered early. Check out the Prize Draws page for full details. Random prize distribution on race day will be via a ticket system. If you receive a ticket at the finish line you can collect your prize from the event HQ marquee.

RACE NUMBER PICK UPS

There are three opportunities to collect your race bib/number. Two will be pre race and one on race morning. More details will be available closer to the day.

AGE GROUPS

Junior (6-17yrs), 18-30 yrs, 31-40 yrs, 41-50 yrs, 51-60 yrs, 60+ yrs

Trophies will be awarded to winners in each category in both the 10km and 5km events.

PRESENTATION CEREMONY

Presentation Ceremony will take place at approximately 10:20am

BAG STORAGE

There will be a secure (staffed) baggage holding area at the event site. The baggage holding area will be open from 8:15am and will close at 10:30am. PLEASE ENSURE THERE ARE NO VALUABLE ITEMS LEFT AT THE BAGGAGE HOLDING AREA.

DRINK STATIONS

Drink stations will be located at approximately 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km and the finish line. 

WALKERS

We ask all walkers to be mindful of the fact that the 10km course involves two laps, therefore we ask that all walkers keep to the left of the track and allow room for participants to pass from behind at all times.

POST RUN BBQ

The 2nd Lara Scouts will once again be cooking up a storm, to replenish those energy levels this year. Make sure you remember to bring along a couple of dollars for a great feed and support this fantastic local group.

COFFEE

A coffee fix will also be available on the day. Gary and the team from City to Surf Mobile Cafe will be there bright and early to give that much needed caffeine hit.

PARKING

Secure off road parking is available on land directly opposite the entrance to the event site. Marshals will be available to ensure parking is orderly and safe.

PREPARATION AND TRAINING

Please ensure you are well hydrated prior to taking on the run and that you have a sufficient level of fitness to be capable of finishing the event in a safe manner

TOILETS

Geoffs mobile toilet truck will once again be at this years event, there will be 19 flushing toilets, urinals and basins (with soap) to make your last minute dash a bit more pleasant.

PETS AND IPODS

No pets are allowed in the Lara Fun Run.

Ipods are allowed, however please play at a volume that does not disturb other runners and a volume you are able to hear course marshals instructions

Important Dates              

  • Closing date for Online Entries:  Thursday October 30 - 6:00pm SHARP.
  • Race Day Entries: Sunday November 2, 7:30am - 8:30am.

GROUP ENTRY DISCOUNTS

Enter as a group of 3 or more and each registration will recieve a $5 (15%) discount on their entry fee. This discount will automatically be deducted once three registrations is reached. 

All members of a group entry must register on the one online registration form.

No Group Entries will be available on race day.

RACE DAY ENTRIES

Entries will be taken on the day of the event, however, it is recomended that you arrive early as race day entries will close at 8:45am. Race day entries will incur an administration fee (see above).

In the lead up to this years Lara Fun Run we will have several major prize draws. To be eligable for these great prizes all you need to do is be registered before the draw date.

There will also be many random prizes given out on the day..

ENTRY TRANSFERS

It is crucial that we know who is running with which race bib. Therefore, no transfer of entries or bibs numbers will be allowed. Breaching this rule will result in instant disqualification.

REFUNDS

No refunds of entry fees will be given.

 

 

The Ray White Lara Fun Run course remains at Serendip Sanctuary, Lara. The start and finish occurs within the gardens of the beautiful Pirra Homestead. The course incorporates both a 5 km run/walk and a 10km run events. The flat 5km course will be 1 lap and the 10km course will be 2 laps.

The course takes participants around Serendip Sanctuary, amongst a variety of wildlife including: Kangaroo's, Emus, Koala's, native birdlife and other australian native animals. Who knows what you might see!

This course is off limits to the general public throughout the year, so this is your only chance to run or walk this great course.

The Lara Fun Run is a major fundraiser for many local organisations. Some of the organisations that will benefit from the 2014 Lara Fun Run are:

  • Serendip Sanctuary
  • All Lara District Primary Schools
  • Lara Swimming Club
  • 2nd Lara Scout Group
